It is your BIRTHDAY plus the MONTH you were born plus the  CURRENT YEAR.   For instance my birthday is June 7, 1960 and I want to see  what the trends are for the year 2008. 
The calculation would  be 6 + 7 = 13. This equals 4.   I then reduce the year 2008 to  1 (2+0+0+8=10, and 1+0=1).   4 and 1 equals 5, so my Personal year for 2008 is 5.
 Interpretations of the Numbers   Personal Year
1:  Planting Seeds, Rebirth, Beginning of An Era   This is the beginning of a new nine year cycle. Things that  have concerned you for the past decade no longer matter at  all, in fact you may find your priorities have changed  altogether. Disappointments from the past simply don't matter  anymore. Any work that you do during this year sets the tone  and foundation for the next nine. This is the time to decide  what your goals are and act on them. A personal year 1 also  often brings new vitality and physical strength.
Personal Year 2:  Nurturing, Development, Waiting For The Right Moment   This is a time during which the seeds of change you have  planted during a year 1 cycle start to grow. Ideas or  attempts to change can be compared to seeds that are nurtured  in darkness and just pushing their tendrils up through the  soil.   A year 2 is all about patience. Personal Year 6:  Finding A Soul Mate, Love, Family and Home   A personal year 6 intensifies feelings in existing  relationships and enables you to make new emotional  connections. Many people find a soul mate during this phase.  You are most likely to get married or engaged during this  harmonious year. Although this can be a wonderful experience  it can also be sobering, as it often presents a choice:  to make a commitment or not. While you are in a year 8 others find you more attractive and  charismatic and many people find themselves thrust into a  position of great authority or power during 8's influence. Personal Year 9:  Death, Taking Personal Inventory, The End of an Era   The number 9 year is one of completion and marks the  beginning of the ending of everything you have managed to  accomplish during the last decade. Life Expression
Life Expression number, sometimes known as the Destiny Number
 or the Personality number.
 This sum describes all of the talents and potentials that are
 at your disposal in this lifetime and is calculated from the
 letters that compose your full birth name.  It represents what
 kind of ideals or standards that you need to live up to in
 this lifetime to be "complete."
 Remember that this number cannot be your nickname or your
 married name, but rather the name that is found written in
 full on your birth certificate.  It is the number that
 reveals what makes you tick, what excites you and what
 motivates you as a person. If your name is misspelled on
 your birth certificate, use that to configure your Life
 expression number.
 Unlike the Life Path Number, which is more about your
 limitations or possibilities due to your ancestry or
 physicality, this calculation offers you a glimpse of how
 you can make the most of your experience on earth.
 The value of your Life Expression Number is that it shows
 you what you are truly capable of or what you should look
 for when it comes to realizing your highest potential.
 To calculate your Life Expression number, treat each of
 your names separately and add up the values according to
 the conversion chart below.

 Today we will be using the name of Brad Pitt, whose full
 name is actually William  Bradley Pitt.
 So first we would take William and add up the values as
 assigned to each letter:
  William  5 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 9 + 1 + 4 = 34
  This would be reduced down to 3+4 which = 7
  Bradley  2 + 9 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 31
  3 + 1 reduces to 4
  Pitt 7 + 9 + 2 + 2 = 20
  2 + 0 reduces to 2
  We then add all three of the reduced sums together to get a total

Life Path How To Calculate.
The formula is:
  Convert the month to a single number or a master number
  (November stays 11 rather than 2).
  Then convert the day of birth to a single digit or master
  number.
  Next, add the total digits of year and reduce this sum to
  a single digit or master number. The individual digits
  representing the month, day, and year, be they single digits
  or master numbers, are then added together, as necessary to
  reduce the sum once again to a single digit 1 through 9, or
  to the numerology "master numbers," 11 or 22.
  These master numbers, as components of the date or as a
  final result, are not reduced any further.
 The following interpretations are by no means consummate
 descriptions of a life path. I could devote ten pages to each
 number. Still this will give you an idea of your destiny in

 Number 1
 ========

The Golden Ratio 1.618.
The Fibbonacci sequence numbers are 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34...The next number in sequence is 55.The sum of two prior number makes the next number.After 55 would come 89.
As you go further to the right in Fibbonacci sequence,the relationship of a Fibbonacci number to the preceeding Fibbonacci number approaches the Golden Ratio,a ratio of approximately 1:1.618.

It is not the numbers that is important,but The Relationship between the numbers.
It seems that when it comes to stunning beauty or randomness this number is an integral part of it.

Let me be brief,in Numerology there are 4 Core Levels the four core Numerology readings. These include the divination of the Life Path Number, The Expression Number, The Soul Urge Number and the Destiny Number.  Whether you are punching your birthday and full name into a computer program or asking a numerologist to do your calculations in person, almost every numerology report contains these four elements:   * The Life Path Number that is based on your BIRTHDATE   * The Expression Number (sometimes referred to as the    Personality Number, Potential Number and Destiny number)    that is based on ALL THE LETTERS OF YOUR FULL NAME    GIVEN AT BIRTH.   * The Soul Urge Number (sometimes also called the Soul,    Soul Path or Heart's Desire number) that is based on    a reduction of the VOWELS in your full birth name.   * The Destiny Number (sometimes also described as the    Inner Dreams, Inner You or Karmic Number) that is based    on a reduction of the CONSONANTS in your full birth name.   First of all lets look at the divination of the LIFE PATH NUMBER. The Life Path Number is calculated from assigning a numeric value (which don't worry! we will provide for you next week) to your birthday (which must be written out in long form as in 05/25/1959 as opposed to 05/25/59.)  The Life Path Number is perhaps the most commonly requested reading of all of the numerology readings as it is the easiest and fastest to do. It describes your journey through life and what you can best hope to accomplish.  However simply looking just at your Life path number does not constitute what I would call a full reading. Even a reading that consists of just the four core elements is not a complete analysis as it only describes the most likely projected path when you are born. The Life Path Number is the sum of your entire birthday including the year. This number represents whom you were when you came into this world and the extent of your potential and limitations physically, psychologically, spiritually and emotionally.  For instance a number Three may be born into this world with enormous talents and charisma but according to traditional numerology may not be able to sustain a relationship one on one for long because they are so busy following the calling of a successful career.  However, a number three who also has a Soul Urge Number of two (which is about finding true love) could meet a soul mate because they learn to transcend their personal fears and flaws.  This is why it is important to look at all four of the CORE calculations before you assess a person's numerology chart.  The next core number you will be learning how to calculate in this course is THE EXPRESSION NUMBER.  This number is derived from all of the numbers in your full birth name. Not your married or pen name. It must be the name you were born with including all of your middle names. At any rate, it describes the individual that you are on a subconscious level.  The Karmic number also possesses the odd quality of describing how others might see you as a first impression.
